What are the symptoms of Celiac disease? How will my doctor determine if I have celiac disease? |
Gluten Intolerance/Gluten Sensitivity |
I think I suffer from gluten intolerance, what should I do?
If you have stomach pains that last for more than 2 days, or are unmanageable, it would probably be best to seek medical attention. You can discuss gluten intolerance with your doctor during a regular appointment, however I would recommend doing a little bit of research on the topic before you go in so that you can truly benefit from your physician's advice. Doctors are only able to test for Celiac Disease; gluten sensitivity is apparently mostly diagnosed through exclusion of gluten in the diet. See the Gluten Intolerance/Gluten Sensitivity column above for more information.

How do I know if my food is gluten free?
In August of 2013, the FDA issued a final ruling on the use of the term "gluten free" in voluntarily labeled foods. Foods in the United States labeled "gluten free" won't contain more than 20 ppm (parts per million) of gluten. That's only .002% gluten!
